She was brought up in a "very Jewish, Israeli family environment" and has a "strong sense of her Jewish and Israeli identity". Her parents were born in Israel and her grandparents were immigrants from Europe. Her father works as engineer and her mother gives classes as school teacher. Her family background is "1/4 Polish Jewish, 1/4 Austrian Jewish, 1/4 German Jewish, and 1/4 Czech Jewish". Her parents have changed their surname from "Greenstein" to "Gadot". Her first name means "wave" and her surname means "riverbanks" or "shores" in Hebrew.
She married with Israeli businessman Yaron Varsano on 28 september 2008 during the filming of Fast & Furious. The couple live together with their daughter Alma who was born in november 2011 in Tel Aviv. Her husband owned with his brother a hotel in the Neve Tzedek district of Tel-Aviv, which was sold for $25m in april, 2015.
She follows classes at primary education, middle school and high school and went in military service straight after her school period. She served two years in military service as combat instructor at the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), when she was eighteen years old. She studied law at the university after leaving the army.
She enjoys basketball, volleyball, tennis and is an avid motorcycle rider who owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R. She trains in swordsmanship, kung fu, Capoeira, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and kickboxing in order to prepare her for fight scenes in action movies.
Model Career
She started her modeling career in the late 2000s. She appears in international campaigns for brands as Captain Morgan rum, Gucci fragrances and Vine Vera skincare ranges. She has advertised for Jaguar Cars and is the face of Gucci's Bamboo perfume brand. Her annual modelling salary was estimated at NIS 2.4 million in 2013.
There are covershoots and articles about her in magazines as Glamour, Total Film, TVMedia, TV Spielfilm, Jliving, 8 Days, Cleo, Entertainment Weekly, Cosmopolitan, Fashion, FHM, Bride and many more. Achievements
She won the Miss Israel competition in 2004 when she was eighteen years old. She represented Israel at the 2004 Miss Universe beauty pageant in Ecuador. Shalom Life has ranked her as #5 on its list of "the 50 most talented, intelligent, funny, and gorgeous Jewish women in the world" in april, 2012. She was ranked as #84 on Maxim magazine's Hot 100 Women of 2014 list.
Action Movie Career
She made her action movie debut as Elena Vlaslov in this story about Triple 9, a crew of dirty cops who are blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist in ''Triple 9'' (2016). Their plan is turned upside down when an unsuspecting rookie uncovers their plans, in this movie filled with greed, revenge and double crossing.
She plays heroine Wonder Woman in this story where the general public controversial is with having Superman (played by Henry Cavill) on their planet and Batman (played by Ben Affleck) who cleans the streets of Gotham from criminals in the Marvel DC Comics movie ''Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'' (2016). Gotham City's own formidable and powerful hero Batman competes against Superman, the most revered savior of Metropolis. At the same time the world wrestles with the question what for type of hero is needed on the planet.
She plays Jill Pope in this story about CIA agent Bill Pope (played by Ryan Reynolds) who on mission is in London, in order to track down shadowy hacker Jan Stroop (played by Michael Pitt) also known as "The Dutchman" in ''Criminal'' (2016). An experimental procedure is used to transfer Bill's memories into dangerous ex-convict Jericho Stewart (played Kevin Costner), after he is lured mysteriously in an ambush and is killed. Jericho wakes up with the CIA agent his memories and his mission is to find The Dutchman and eliminate him, before the hacker is able to launch ICBM's, with the intention to start World War III.
